The oceans temperature remains -1 to +4 C degrees. Seawater usually freezes at -1.8 C degrees because of salt but water never freezes in the deep sea.This is because of flexible proteins and unsaturated membranes, so it doesn't stiffen up. Membranes are made of fats so they need to be flexible to somewhat work.
